East Elementary

My name is Shane Mathis and I am truly honored to serve the students, staff, and families at East as the elementary principal. I come to Ankeny after 13 years of teaching and leading in Nebraska. I value respect, collaboration, engagement, growth, and having fun while learning.

East is a special place where we do our part within the Ankeny Community School District to engage all students in an educational experience that equips them with the skills to flourish in and contribute to this ever-changing world. As a Leader in Me school, we teach our students the seven habits to be leaders within their classrooms, our school, and our community. We have a wonderful Parent-Teacher Organization dedicated to providing students and East staff with many opportunities.
