Cell Phone and Smart Watches: Starting on October 22, students will no longer be able to use cell phones or smart watches during the school day. The cell phone portion of this new district policy will not change as students were always required to leave cell phones at home or in their backpacks. The change for East students is centered on smart watches that have texting, other communication features or internet access. East students may still wear smartwatches but they should be placed in ‘airplane mode” so that they become a watch for telling time. If a student is using their smart watch for anything other than telling time they will be asked to place the watch in their backpack. If you need to get a message to your student regarding pick-up arrangements during the day, please contact the office by 2:00 PM or email your student’s teacher as early as possible. This will allow office staff time to get the message to your student.
